Insta-12 Pack

I: The Insta-12 Pack

UPDATED: April 12th, 2020 v1.4

Ready to leave the world of basic open chords and start your journey up the fretboard? Every single shape in this pack is a barre or slidable chord. As long as you know the root note on your fretboard, you can use these shapes all over the neck. Learn any one shape, and you've instantly unlocked 12 chords! The most common and useful shapes have been selected. Nearly every chord shape featured uses 4 or less frets to avoid overly-complex fingerings.

All the common chord families are represented, and three (or more) variations are available when possible. Variations also use different strings as the root note for more options. Hit the button below to download the whole pack as a single multi-page PDF.

Note: To use the Insta-12 or Scale Hacker Packs, you'll need to know the notes of the lowest strings of the guitar (especially the Low-E String!). If you need some help with memorizing those notes, check out these handy guides:

If you only need a specific section of the pack, I've seperated the pages out into individual links below. If you need to update a page, just check the version number in the top right corner.

Format Information:

All the media in the Tonetracer Packs are created using Adobe Illustrator and use a vector format. This generates razor-sharp high-resolution documents that are perfect for printing at any size, with no loss of resolution.

Tonetracer Packs use the Adobe Acrobat (PDF) format. All modern browsers will have the ability to natively open these documents as soon as you select a link. This also includes mobile browsers (such as mobile Safari on an iPhone or iPad). You can also print directly from your browser. I've taken care of the technical stuff, so there's no need to worry about margins or "scale to fit" options. Just print and enjoy! All packs use Adobe Acrobat version 8 specifications.

Special Note About Security:

Old outdated browsers and PDF viewers have security risks. While I encourage everyone to share Tonetracer Packs, I also strongly suggest getting them from THIS website. Every PDF has been scanned with the latest Malwarebytes protection software, and guranteed to be virus and malware free.
